1. Cấu trúc Who Whom Which

 

Cấu trúc Who:

….. N (person) + WHO + V + O

Cấu trúc Whom:

…..N (person) + WHOM + S + V

Cấu trúc Which:

….N (thing) + WHICH + V + O

….N (thing) + WHICH + S + V

 

2. Khi nào dùng Who Whom Which

Đại từ quan hệ Who Whom  được dùng thay cho N(danh từ) chỉ người tránh sự lặp lại trong câu ( hoặc từ chỉ con vật có tên riêng)

 

• Who: Làm chủ ngữ tuyệt đối, không được lược bỏ. Trong ngôn ngữ nói có thể làm O, được phép lược bỏ.
• Whom: Chỉ làm O, được phép lược bỏ ( tuy nhiên không được bỏ khi đứng sau dấu phẩy và sau giới từ)

Ví dụ:

• I like the man who is always humorous.
•  
• Tôi thích người đàn ông luôn hài hước.
•  
• My grandmother, who is sick, never goes out of the house
•  
• Bà của tôi, người bị bệnh, không bao giờ ra khỏi nhà
•  
• Most of the guests who were invited to their wedding banquet came late.
•  
• Hầu hết những vị khách được mời dự tiệc cưới của họ đều đến muộn.
•  
• Do you know the man who/ whom my dad is talking to?
•  
• Bạn có biết người đàn ông / người mà bố tôi đang nói chuyện với?
•  

Với đại từ quan hệ Which thì được dùng thay thế cho từ chỉ đồ vật hoặc con vật không có tên.

Which: Khi làm S không thể lược bỏ, làm O được lược bỏ. Which thay cho cả mệnh đề, luôn đứng sau dấu phẩy hoặc sau giới từ.

Ví dụ:

 

• We bought the stereo which had been advertised at a reduced price.
•  
• Chúng tôi đã mua dàn âm thanh nổi đã được quảng cáo với giá giảm.
•  
• They stayed for hours, about which my mother was very annoyed.
•  
• Họ ở lại trong nhiều giờ, về điều đó mẹ tôi rất khó chịu.
