Trường hợp dùng did
Khi trong câu có nhắc đến 1 động từ chỉ hoạt động thì ta dùng trợ động từ do/does/did... để diễn tả.
- Công thức chia động từ thường:

Khi chia động từ có quy tắc ở thì quá khứ, ta chỉ cần thêm hậu tố “-ed” vào cuối động từ
Khi nào dùng did (hình minh họa)
- Có một số động từ khi sử dụng ở thì quá khứ không theo quy tắc thêm “-ed”. Những động từ này ta cần học thuộc. (bảng động từ bất quy tắc)
Ví dụ:
- She watched this film yesterday.(Cô ấy đã xem bộ phim ngày hôm qua.)
- I went to sleep at 11p.m last night. (Tôi đi ngủ 11 tối qua)
- He didn’t come to school last week. (Tuần trước cậu ta không đến trường.)
- Did you visit Ho Chi Minh Museum with your class last weekend? (Bạn có đi thăm bảo tàng Hồ Chí Minh với lớp của bạn cuối tuần trước hay không?)
Trường hợp dùng Was Were
Was là động từ được dùng trong các trường hợp sau: Có chủ ngữ ở ngôi thứ nhất I. Was dùng trong ngôi thứ 3 số ít (He, she, it) ...
Khi nào dùng was were (hình minh họa)
Were là động từ dùng trong các trường hợp: Trong câu có chủ ngữ ở ngôi thứ 2 như You, they, we. Were dùng với danh từ số nhiều (Tables, cats,..)

- She wasn’t very happy last night because of having lost money. (Tối qua cô ấy không vui vì mất tiền)
- We weren’t at home yesterday.(Hôm qua chúng tôi không ở nhà.)
- I was at my friend’s house yesterday morning. (Tôi đã ở nhà bạn tôi sáng hôm qua.)
- She wasn’t very happy last night because of having lost money. (Tối qua cô ấy không vui vì mất tiền)
- They were in London on their summer holiday last year. (Họ ở Luân Đôn vào kỳ nghỉ hè năm ngoái.)
- Was she tired of hearing her customer’s complaint yesterday? (Cô ấy có bị mệt vì nghe khách hàng phàn nàn ngày hôm qua không?)
